On Opening Day, Nevada County Fairgrounds CEO Andrew Trygg recognized the over 220 part-time volunteers and paid staffers who join the team of only nine full-time employees. He also suggested offering them a ‘Thank You’ when you see them around the grounds doing their job so we all can enjoy the Fair. Excellent advice, Andrew!



















First 5 of Nevada County reported signups for the Dolly Parton Imagination Library are going great. Families with children under the age of 5 can visit the Kidsโ Corner between 11 a.m. and 7 p.m. every day of the fair to sign up and receive an extra free book.

Also yesterday, we got word the Nevada County Fair Board has a new member, bringing the total to six out of nine volunteer positions filled. Timothy Reid, of Penn Valley, has been appointed to the 17th District Agricultural Association โ Nevada County Fair Board. Reid has been Director of Pupil Services at Nevada Joint Union High School District since 2022 and Adjunct Faculty at Sierra Community College since 2015. He was Assistant Principal at Nevada Union High School from 2016 to 2022. He was a Teacher at Bear River High School from 2010 to 2016. Reid is a member of the California Cattlemenโs Association, California Farm Bureau, and Association of California School Administrators. Reid earned a Doctor of Education degree from Capella University, a Master of Education degree in Agricultural Education from California State Polytechnic University, San Luis Obispo, and a Bachelor of Science degree in Agriculture Business from California State University, Chico.
If you are planning on going to the Fair today, take advantage of free parking and freeย shuttle buses from Nevada Union High School. The free shuttle bus runs nonstop from Nevada Union High School to the Fairgrounds, Gate 1 entrance. Shuttle service begins at 8:30 am. The last bus leaves the Fairgrounds at 11:30 pm.
Nevada County Connectsย provides a Grass Valley shuttle bus to and from the Nevada County Fair, withย free fares system wide. The direct-to-Fair bus will depart from Church and Neal Streets (in front of Tri-Counties Bank) starting at 9:30 am. The bus runs every 30 minutes with additional stops at the Pine Creek and McKnight Crossing shopping centers and the Tinloy Transit Center. The last departure from the Fairgrounds leaves at 11:00 pm.
