Grass Valley, CA – A grass valley landscaper was arrested by Nevada County Sheriff’s Office (NCSO) Patrol Deputies on October 20, 2025, following a Lake of the Pines home burglary investigation involving the theft of a golf cart from a garage. The suspect was identified as 27-year-old George Gault of Auburn and determined to be the former landscaper for the victim.
The victim filed an online theft report to NCSO on 10/3/2025 after discovering the golf cart was missing. A NCSO patrol deputy followed up on leads that ultimately led to the discovery of an online sales advertisement for the suspected-stolen golf cart.
Further investigation revealed that the golf cart had been sold by Gault. The investigating deputy was able to locate the buyer, who resided in Merced County. The unsuspecting buyer was contacted by NCSO, cooperated with the investigation, and aided in the recovery of the stolen golf cart with help from Atwater Police Department.
Gault was booked into the Wayne Brown Correctional Facility for charges of Burglary, Grand Theft of a Vehicle, and Theft from and Elderly or Dependent Adult.
