QUINCY, Calif. May 12, 2017 – Plumas NF firefighters plan to underburn 98 acres north of Meadow Valley on Monday, May 15. The shaded fuelbreak, known as a defensible fuel profile zone or DFPZ, should take about 1 day for ignitions and a few days to burn down.
Smoke will move northeast to north during the day with some light smoke in the valleys at night. There may be short duration minor smoke impacts to Meadow Valley, Quincy, Butterfly Valley, Indian Valley and Feather River Canyon areas.

Last Wednesday’s Empire project burn (mid-slope of Mt. Hough) was successful with 104 acres completed. If weather conditions are favorable, firefighters will complete the remaining 45 acres in the burn unit later in the week of May 15th.
