High temperatures continue today and Monday with a Heat Advisory going into effect for the northern Sacramento Valley and northeast foothills at 11am today and continuing through 11pm Monday.

Widespread Moderate HeatRisk with areas of Major HeatRisk expected today and Monday.

Underneath split flow aloft through the weekend and into early next week, above normal temperatures and mountain shower and thunderstorm chances are expected to continue. As ridging over the Pacific Northwest begins to break down through the middle of the week, a trend toward cooler and more seasonable weather is anticipated as breezy onshore flow persists.

Chance of thunderstorms today and Monday

Continued thunderstorm chances today and Monday in the afternoons and evenings, with chances spreading northward from the past few days (10-35%, highest along the Sierra Crest.)

Isolated thunderstorms may produce dangerous lightning, brief heavy rain, gusty winds, and small hail impacting outdoor activities and recreationists. No debris flow impacts expected for burn scars.

HeatRisk Sun-Mon

Cooling trend expected through the remainder of the week. Areas of Moderate HeatRisk on Tuesday dissipate to primarily Minor HeatRisk as temperatures become more seasonable.
