Grass Valley, CA, April 8, 2026 — Learn about volunteering for Music in the Mountains at a Volunteer Orientation on Tuesday, April 22 at 5:30 PM. This  event is designed for anyone interested in meeting new people, learning about Music in the Mountains, and finding a meaningful way to contribute to our region’s vibrant cultural life.

Music in the Mountains is dedicated to inspiring, engaging, and connecting the community through extraordinary classical musical experiences. The organization presents world-class concerts and accessible educational programs that bring hope, joy, and inspiration to audiences throughout Western Nevada County.

The April 22 orientation will provide a brief background on the organization’s history and mission, and introduce volunteers to the many ways they can help make performances possible.

“We could not provide transformative musical experiences for our audiences without our volunteers. Volunteers are the heart of Music in the Mountains,” said Isabella Christmon, Volunteer Coordinator. “They help create the welcoming atmosphere that makes our concerts so memorable for audiences and artists alike.”

Volunteer opportunities are varied and flexible, allowing people to participate in ways that match their interests and availability. Roles include:

  • Concert ushers, who greet guests and help create a welcoming concert experience—and get to enjoy the performance
  • Backstage and production helpers, assisting with set-up and logistics
  • Parking monitors, guiding guests and ensuring smooth arrivals
  • Flyer posting and outreach, helping spread the word about upcoming performances
  • Administrative help, such as preparing mailings
  • Special event support, including the gala committee, decorations, auction support, and day-of-event assistance

Whether someone has just an hour to help address envelopes or prefers a more active role supporting concerts, Music in the Mountains offers opportunities for everyone.

Beyond supporting great music, volunteers get the chance to attend concerts and become part of a friendly community united by a love of music. Volunteering is a wonderful way to stay engaged, meet new friends, and contribute to something meaningful close to home.
