Grass Valley, CA, March 18, 2026 — Music in the Mountains invites the community to experience the luminous beauty of Gabriel Fauré’s Requiem, performed by the Music in the Mountains Chorus alongside outstanding professional soloists, in the serene and resonant setting of Peace Lutheran Church in Grass Valley.
This thoughtfully designed program highlights both intimate artistry and the full power of choral performance. The first half of the concert features a compelling chamber-style program, with acclaimed soloists and organist Christopher Keady performing a curated selection of vocal and organ works. In the second half, conductor Ariel May will lead the full Music in the Mountains Chorus to present Fauré’s Requiem, a masterwork known for its serenity, warmth, and emotional depth.
A standout feature of the performance is organist Christopher Keady, Associate Director of Music and Organist at Grace Cathedral in San Francisco. Keady will perform on a state-of-the-art organ—one of the first of its kind in the western United States—combining traditional pipes with digitally sampled sounds to create a rich, immersive sonic experience.

The concert also showcases two exceptional vocal soloists:
Baritone Yannick Lambrecht brings both technical mastery and artistic insight to the program, performing a set of French solo works for voice and piano. Lambrecht has appeared with the San Francisco Bach Choir and Pacific Chorale in Los Angeles, and holds a degree in vocal performance from Chapman University. Reflecting on the role of music, he shares: “I believe in art as a catalyst for transformation that can help us become more integrated and whole. We need art to remember our common humanity.”
Soprano Anna Schubert, based in Los Angeles, offers a dynamic and expressive presence, performing works by Libby Larsen—one of the most important contemporary female voices in classical music—and composer Shawn Kirschner. Described as “luminously expressive” with a “silvery voice” that “moves from innocence to devastation with an actor’s ease,” Schubert has performed with the Los Angeles Opera, the Los Angeles Master Chorale and Philharmonic, and the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra, as well as in film and television.
Fauré’s Requiem itself is widely regarded as one of the most beloved works in the choral repertoire. Written as a meditation on rest and peace, it offers a vision of consolation—moving beyond grief toward a sense of gentle mercy and eternal calm. In the resonant and intimate setting of Peace Lutheran Church, audiences will experience the work’s luminous textures and emotional depth up close.
“I think it’s going to be a really amazing concert — the Fauré Requiem is one of the great Romantic pieces, with lush harmonies and beautiful melodies,” said Ryan Murray, Artistic Director for Music in the Mountains.
