Nevada City, Calif. — The City Council is inviting community members to participate in a Community Workshop scheduled for March 27, 2025, at the Miners Foundry. This meeting aims to gather public input on the prioritization of goals and objectives of the 2022-2027 Strategic Plan, which will help inform the City Council with budget allocations for the 2025-2026 fiscal year.
The meeting will be from 6 – 8 p.m. and will feature a presentation on the current strategic plan, highlighting recent updates. The World Café method is a structured and interactive dialogue format for hosting large group dialogue, designed to facilitate engaging and productive discussions in small, rotating groups of 4–5 participants. This approach encourages collaborative conversations that help shape community priorities. The City Council encourages all interested parties to share their comments and insights to aid in future decision-making.
The City Council adopted the City’s Strategic Plan 2022 to 2027 on Nov. 9, 2022 after completing a comprehensive strategic planning process over several months. The Strategic Plan defines the City’s Mission, Vision, and Values, and outlines four embedded strategic initiatives—Nisenan, Climate, Technology, and Engagement, as well as seven priority strategic initiatives—Housing, Fire, Water, Business, Vibrancy, Infrastructure, and Parks.
“Your voice shaped Nevada City’s 2022 Strategic Plan—now it’s time to speak up again. The City Council is updating our strategic plan, built with the community’s input,” said Mayor Gary Petersen. “As we set future priorities, we want to ensure we head in the same direction. I encourage you to join us at the community workshop on March 27th, as everyone’s participation is essential to building the future together.”
In addition, Mayor Petersen has declared this year as the “Year of the Neighbor,” emphasizing the importance of community connections and relationships. This initiative encourages residents to meet their neighbors, fostering a stronger sense of community and collaboration. The workshop will offer a fantastic chance to reinforce these connections and encourage civic engagement among neighbors. The City is looking forward to this productive and fruitful discussion!
Participants are invited to register for the workshop through Golden, a platform from California Volunteers designed for organizing events, made possible by a Neighbor-to-Neighbor grant from the Governor’s Office given to the City.
