Grass Valley – November 18, 2025. This week California Arts Council announced its 2026 grant recipients, Nevada County Arts Council is honored to have been selected to administer funds for three of these grants, each with a focus on building capacity within the creative field. With its proven track record of administering state funds through the California Creative Corps, Nevada County Arts Council is recognized for its dedication to uplifting artists and ensuring equity in arts funding across Northern California.

Local and Regional Impact
Through California Arts Council’s Arts and Youth Program Nevada County Arts Council will continue to work with professional bassist and seasoned educator, Pancho Tomaselli and the Bass Dojo program. Tomaselli teaches improvisation, collaboration and personal expression for at-promise youth at Mountain Valley Child and Family Services on the San Juan Ridge. This program builds much-needed resilience, emotional literacy and confidence through healing-centered arts engagement.
Continuing work through the State-Local Partner Mentorship Program, Nevada County Arts Council Executive Director Eliza Tudor will mentor a newly designated arts agency in Glenn County. With guidance, Glenn County Arts & Culture—now a 501c3—will build infrastructure, deepen community partnerships, and plan for culturally inclusive programming through strengthening systems for outreach and accessibility.

Nevada County Arts Council has also been selected as an intermediary organization for California Arts Council, managing grantmaking across the Upstate Region under the Individual Artist Fellowship Program. Partnering with its peer network of State-Local-Partner agencies, Nevada County Arts Council will increase access to arts funding through prioritizing the historically underserved communities across Northern California, elevating artists as essential voices in advancing community well-being and shaping cultural vitality.
Celebrate with Nevada County Arts Council and Support the Arts
Over the years Nevada County Arts Council has continued to demonstrate that the arts are not a luxury—they are central to how we learn, connect and understand one another. The announcement of these grants by California Arts Council demonstrates the state’s trust in Nevada County Arts Council’s unparalleled commitment to building local capacity within the creative economy and across rural California, bringing equity to the field, and ensuring access to arts and arts funding for those historically underserved within our communities.
This announcement comes just as Nevada County Arts Council announces its first ever End-of-Year Giving Campaign. As Hannah Mosby, who leads this campaign, says: “Community support sustains the programs and services that bring artists into classrooms, amplify rural voices at the state level, and keep creativity alive across our California Cultural Districts. Many of these free resources and services are not funded by state or local government and depend upon our members and the generosity of our local residents.”
