NEVADA CITY, Calif. October 22, 2019 – Before turning their attention to policy issues and receiving an update on the Office of Emergency Services’ progress, the Nevada County Board of Supervisors presented a certificate of recognition to YubaNet on the occasion of our 20th anniversary.
The certificate reads, in part, “Over YubaNet’s twenty years of operation, the online news outlet has been an important resource for local information and a neutral moderator for community events. As an advocate for fire safety, YubaNet has published the Ready for Wildfire series, giving residents step-by-step tips and information on how to be fire safe. YubaNet Publisher Susan Levitz has a long history of community involvement and Editor Pascale Fusshoeller has served on Nevada County’s South Yuba River Cohort, thereby contributing to a pilot program by the Board of Supervisors to improve fire safety in the South Yuba River canyon.
Susan Levitz, YubaNet’s publisher, summed up our reaction perfectly, saying “I am honored, she’s embarrassed.” This reporter’s goal is to report the news, not make the news.
We thank the Board of Supervisors, the CEO’s office and especially the staff of Nevada County who make reporting the news easier by sharing their knowledge. We are proud to be a part of this community, and we’ll continue to do our job.
