An excited email from your photographer at midnight talking about horse events at the Fair, means you’re in for a treat. Sure enough, Penny Collins captured both barrel racing and horse mindfulness in the arena at the Nevada County Fairgrounds.
Horse mindfulness – where rider and horse feed off each other’s energy and the rider helps to guide the horse to the behavior they are looking for.
Barrel racing – several of the riders were new to horseback riding. After sharing the foundational skills needed for barrel racing, the riders gave the crowds a treat with fast paced handling around barrels placed across the arena.
