Nevada County Library and Nevada County Health and Human Service Agency are pleased to announce a collaboration aimed at enhancing community access to essential services.

Services Drop-In at Nevada County libraries

Patrons visiting participating library branches can now access one-on-one assistance from staff members representing various agencies, including Eligibility and Employment Services, Adult Services, Child Support Services, Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital, and Veterans Services, with the latter joining in March 2024. This expansion reflects a commitment to holistic community support and addresses a diverse array of needs.

“Bringing essential services directly to our community through the library not only enhances accessibility but also helps to destigmatize seeking assistance.,” says Rachel Peña, LCSW, Director of Social Services. “By integrating services into familiar and welcoming spaces, we’re breaking down barriers and fostering a culture of support and inclusivity, particularly in rural areas where access to resources may be limited.”

The Services Drop-In program offers a unique opportunity for patrons to engage with service providers in a familiar and welcoming environment. By bringing together multiple agencies under one roof, the program aims to streamline access to crucial resources and create a convenient one-stop-shop for community members seeking assistance.

The collaboration between Nevada County Library and Health Services represents a significant step forward in community empowerment and support. By leveraging the resources and expertise of both organizations, this partnership aims to enhance the well-being and resilience of Nevada County residents.
