The County has continued its effort to mitigate fire risk on County owned property and to surrounding residents.

Recently, the Code Compliance Division, Facilities, Health and Human Services (HHSA), Environmental Health, and Risk Management collaborated with the CEO’s office to develop a homeless encampment protocol to address unlawful encampments on County properties.

This protocol involves the removal of unlawful encampments, while supporting the relocation of encampment inhabitants into homeless shelters or other identified housing resources. Care for personal belongings was also taken into considering as part of the removal process.

The county recently utilized this protocol to remove two separate encampments on County owned properties. These encampments had a lengthy history and were frequently visited by law enforcement personnel.
