Nevada City —Nevada County is asking for input on its proposed pedestrian improvement plan to construct a roundabout that will realign the two three-legged intersections of Ridge Road and Rough & Ready Highway intersection. Residents can take the brief survey by May 8 to provide feedback on these proposed improvements at www.nevadacountyca.gov/roundaboutsurvey.

The roundabout improvements at the intersections of Rough and Ready Highway/Ridge Road and Adams Ave/Ridge Road have three primary goals:

  1. Reduce delays caused by stop-and-go traffic and the carbon emissions produced by vehicles idling and waiting.
  2. Improve safety by reducing accidents caused by improper turning and right-of- way violations.
  3. Enhances pedestrian safety by adding new multi-use pathways and crosswalks.
Ridge Road and Adam Ave

This project will add substantial pedestrian improvements, including approximately 1.1 miles of pedestrian/bike paths and designated bike lanes along Ridge Road, through the roundabout, and continuing approximately 700 feet along Adam Ave. Designated bike lanes will be directly adjacent to the roadway, and the pedestrian/bike paths will be separate from the roadway.

These improvements would reduce congestion and accidents and enhance the multi- use transportation options in this area. Take the survey by May 8 and learn more about the project at www.nevadacountyca.gov/roundaboutproject.
