Nevada City, CA – The Nevada County Veterans Service Office is hosting its first Health & Wellness Fair Aug. 29.

The free event runs 11 a.m.-4 p.m. at the Grass Valley Veterans Memorial Building, 255 S. Auburn St.

The County’s approximately 10,000 veterans, their families and survivors can learn about therapy and treatment options, veterans’ groups, job opportunities, recreational programs and more. They can also find out about new expanded federal benefits for veterans exposed to burn pits, Agent Orange, and other toxic substances. Free hamburgers, hotdogs, sides and drinks will be served. There will also be music.

Veterans Wellness Fair

“This is a good chance for veterans to learn about benefits they are entitled to,” said Veterans Service Officer David West. “Our goal is to ensure that every veteran has his or her family’s needs met across all aspects of human services.”

The fair will also feature presentations by government agencies from 12- 3 p.m. in the Remembrance Room. The tentative schedule is:

  • 12 p.m. – Nevada County Veteran Services Office
  • 12:30 p.m. – Veterans Health Administration
  • 1 p.m. – Veterans Benefits Administration
  • 1:30 p.m. – California Department of Veterans Affairs (CalVet)
  • 2 p.m. – Nevada County HOME Team (Homeless Outreach and Medical Engagement)
  • 2:30 p.m. – Nevada County Adult Services
