Grass Valley, CA — Nevada Union High School proudly invites the community to attend the opening reception of a Student Art Exhibition celebrating the creativity, dedication, and collaboration of its studio art and photography students. The reception will take place on Thursday, February 26, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. in the Nevada Union Art Gallery, Room D13.
This engaging exhibition highlights a unique interdisciplinary project that brings together multiple art forms. On display will be diorama artworks, photo collage pieces, and photography created by students that documents and reinterprets the diorama work. Through this process, students explored storytelling, composition, lighting, and perspective while learning how different artistic mediums can inform and enhance one another.
The exhibition is a diverse and inspiring collection that showcases both individual artistic voices and the strength of collaboration within the Nevada Union art departments.
Studio Art teacher Jillene Davidson reflects on the project:
The Diorama Unit is one of my favorites because it offers a chance for students to be innovative and creative while they fabricate items by hand for their miniature interior space. Students are challenged to create an interior dream space using various found objects, clay, fabric, cardboard, glue and paint. It is amazing to see their shoe boxes transform into tiny living rooms, cafes, libraries or whatever space they decided to create. It’s so fun for me to see what students come up with and how they reinvent found objects and create furniture and accessories with repurposed materials.
The opening reception offers friends, family members, and community supporters an opportunity to meet the student artists, view their work in a gallery setting, and celebrate their accomplishments. Light refreshments will be available, and all are welcome to attend.
Nevada Union High School is proud to support arts education and provide students with opportunities to explore creativity, critical thinking, and collaboration. This exhibition stands as a testament to the talent and dedication of its young artists and the value of a strong, connected arts program.
