Gold Country Trails Council (GCTC) of Grass Valley welcomes 4 new Trail Patrol Ambassadors to its ranks! The Tahoe National Forest will soon have additional Gold Country Trail Patrol Ambassadors out monitoring non-motorized trails in the forest.

GCTC Trail Patrol Ambassadors are specially trained volunteers, sanctioned by the Forest Service who are responsible for:
- Greeting fellow outdoor enthusiasts,
- Providing useful information about trail use on public lands,
- Noting safety and trail maintenance issues
- Helping other riders or hikers in distress.ย
GCTC volunteers represent the U.S. Forest Service but carry no law enforcement authority above that of an ordinary citizen. They wear recognizable vests while riding or running and generally carry extra water and first aid kits. Most Ambassadors carry GPS route applications and will gladly help other users understand where they are and what conditions to expect up ahead on the trail. GCTC Trail Patrol members are on the front-line ensuring safety for users of the national forest.
The Trail Patrol are members of Gold Country Trails Council (GCTC) – a local organization in Grass Valley that was formed and is committed to developing, maintaining, and advocating for safe, integrated trails for equestrians, hikers, runners and other non-motorized users in the Tahoe National Forest.
The work GCTC volunteers perform to build and maintain the trails is more important than ever. There are many potential impacts to wildlife, vegetation and other resources that can occur as result of inappropriate trail use and GCTC is committed to working together with all users to minimize the impacts and enhance the safety of the Tahoe trail network.
