A beautiful exhibit by Nevada City photographer, Don Baldwin captures the serenity of nature, in “Everyday Sacred:Transmitting Life”.   Thirty-two photographs, taken over six years, highlight the aweinspiring beauty of Tenaya Lake, Lake Tahoe, Yuba River and other locales.  Black and white, color, and panoramic images will be on display during November and December.  All are invited to the opening reception on Friday, November 8 at the Edward Jones gallery on Brunswick Rd (near the River Community Bank) in Grass Valley from 4:00 – 6:00 pm.

Baldwin got his first movie camera when he was 21, preparing for a world trip with his father. For over 50 years, he has been taking stills and video to create films and audio visual programs.  “Please remember, I’m a retired minister, not a professional photographer,” Baldwin stated.  After he was ordained, he was appointed the Resident Minister in Yosemite National Park.  “With Yosemite as a backdrop, I was inspired to transmit beauty and the wonder of creation to all.  When in nature, I look to see how one part of nature can relate to another and how one image can lead into another.  I do love displaying single photographic images and how they freeze action, but my first love is the motion of images that movie-making provides,” Baldwin stated.

Having received awards for both his films and still photos, Baldwin recently completed two short films locally on the wildflowers of the Buttermilk Bend Trail along the Yuba River and the blooming tulips at Ananda Village.  A longer film, Sequoia Rhapsody….the Movie, was shot in many redwood groves, taking ten years to complete.
