Local historian and former County Superintendent of Schools Terry McAteer will be offering a series of free monthly walks through Nevada City intended to attract locals and visitors who wish to learn more about Nevada City history. The first walk of the year will be held on Saturday, April 11th at 10 a.m. and will last about 1 hour and 15 minutes. The walk will begin and end at Miners Foundry located at 325 Spring Street in Nevada City.
“I started the free walks last year in Grass Valley and they proved to be very popular so I decided to expand to Nevada City,” said McAteer, who has taught history on the high school and university level and is the Chair for the Grass Valley Historical Commission. “I’m pleased that the Nevada City Chamber is highly supportive of this activity and I encourage locals and tourists take the opportunity to learn the historic side of Nevada City.”

McAteer encourages people to bring some water, and their quest for knowledge on this short four block walk. Future walks will occur on one Saturday (usually the 3rd Saturday) of each month starting at 10 a.m..
The dates for these are: May 9th (Special times— 11:30 a.m. and 1 pm), June 20th, July 18th, August 15th and September 19th.
