November 7, 2019 – Dry and mild weather weather pattern continues into next week.
Discussion
Broad anticyclonic flow around the offshore upper ridge has brought some scattered high clouds into the region. A gradual eastward shift of this ridge is likely with heights being roughly 1 to 1.5 standard deviations above average. This will support several more days of abundant warmth with high temperatures being 10 to 15 degrees above climatology, locally closer to 20 degree departures in Shasta County into the southern Cascades.
Decent diurnal temperature falls are likely overnight given optimal radiational cooling effects. Radiational inversions will form each night with the the typical thermal belts remaining about 10 to 15 degrees warmer than the Valley.
While temperatures remain warm into the weekend, heights do begin to lower a bit in response to a weak trough moving through the Central Great Basin. This may introduce some additional cloud cover to finish out the weekend.
Additionally, expect an increase in nocturnal northeasterly winds across wind prone locations including canyons. Wind gusts could reach 20 to 25 mph given the increase in the west-east pressure gradient.
No precipitation in store with dry conditions continuing into next week.
Extended Discussion (Monday through Thursday)
Sunday into Monday, we could see a slight uptick in north to northeast winds with poor to moderate overnight recoveries expected.
Otherwise, quiet weather continues through the extended forecast period as the Eastern Pacific ridge that has been keeping us warm and dry holds steady.
