NEVADA CITY, Calif. October 15, 2019 – Rumor control: There is no widespread PSPS or blackout planned by PG&E for the Foothills on October 21st.

The much amplified rumor started on social media when a person posted about receiving a letter from PG&E regarding an outage on October 21st. The October 9-11 PSPS was still ongoing and ever since the rumor of a second widespread power shutoff has run rampant. The post appears to be referring to a planned maintenance (pole replacement) affecting five homes.

The National Weather Service forecast for Saturday through Tuesday of next week mentions strong and gusty winds: “Currently winds are not expected to be very strong, generally 10 to 15 mph with gusts up to 20 to 25 mph over higher elevations.”

PG&E’s PSPS weather page also does not show any planned blackouts. “Continued dry weather is expected this week for the southern areas of the PGE territory.  High pressure should then rebuild across the territory on Sunday and into early next week for a return to fair and dry weather for all areas.”
