NORTH SAN JUAN, Calif. May 24, 2017 – North San Juan Fire Department and Nevada County Consolidated Fire Rescue 84 responded to a reported medical emergency today at 2:42 pm in the Spring Creek area, downstream from Edwards Crossing on the South Yuba.
Upon arrival at the staging location, two North San Juan firefighters hiked down to Spring Creek in search of the patient as the reported incident location was rather vague. The firefighters encountered a local resident who directed them further downstream.
NCCFD Rescue 84 arrived on scene and also began the search for the patient, assisted by helicopters Calstar 3 and CAL FIRE Chopper 205.
NSJ firefighters located and provided care for the patient. Rescue 84 arrived on scene with a Stokes basket (seen in the picture above), then the firefighters transported the patient out of the area and to the Sierra Nevada Medic 1 ambulance.
Medic 1 transported the patient to North San Juan Station 3 and the patient was flown to Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital in Calstar 3.
All units were released by 6:00 pm.
