Nevada City, Calif. – From casual Coffee Chats to a formal, two-day workshop, Nevada County is offering several new ways for residents to learn about and provide input on how County funding is prioritized for services and programs that impact the community.
“We want residents to understand how budget decisions are made,” said Board of Supervisors Chair Lisa Swarthout. “We’re creating more opportunities to ask questions, share priorities and be part of the conversation.”
Nevada County’s new fiscal year starts on July 1, and the 2026-2027 budget development process is underway. The proposed budget will be available in late May, with adoption scheduled for June 23.
Residents can share their thoughts in several ways:
- Attend a budget Coffee Chat.
- Speak in person or by phone at 530-270-3474 during public comment at the April 28–29 Budget Workshop or the June 9 Budget Hearing.
- Email comments to BOS.PublicComment@nevadacountyca.gov.
