Valentine’s Day is celebrated in many countries around the world today with cards, candy, flowers and special gifts. It is thought to be originally established as the feast day of St. Valentine by a 5th century pope when abolishing the Roman pagan fertility festival of Lupercalia held in February. There were at least two priests named Valentine – each with a dramatic story of sacrifice for love. It may not have been until the Middle Ages that Valentine’s Day was associated with lovers. The celebration of Valentine’s Day today has been extended beyond a day for lovers to include the showing of love to friends and family.
Let Peace show the Love to you with this free event. Donations to be used to offset costs will be gratefully accepted.
