AUBURN, Calif. — Working on a project that needs county Environmental Health review? Septic systems, wells, pools, food businesses— many projects require permits or plans at some point. Placer County Environmental Health has launched a new online portal that makes it easier for residents to apply for permits, submit documents and check the status of projects that require county approval.
The portal brings key services together in one place, reducing the need for office visits and managing paperwork. Residents can create an account or sign in here.
Environmental Health oversees a broad range of safety programs, from restaurant and tattoo parlor inspections to hazardous materials. Staff have already reached out directly to business owners who regularly work with the division for annual inspections and permitting, providing them with details about the new portal. In addition, residents beginning projects like these can turn to the portal for many of the services they’ll need:
- Installing or repairing a septic system
- Drilling or modifying a well
- Opening or remodeling a restaurant, food truck or cottage food business
- Submitting event plans for temporary food booths at fairs and community events
- Building on a property that requires soil evaluation or site inspection
“This portal is designed to make it easier for people to move their projects forward without delays,” said Jason Phillippe, director of Environmental Health. “Whether someone interacts with us once a decade or several times a year, we want the experience to be clear, simple and convenient.”
Environmental Health will continue to offer in-person services at its Auburn and Tahoe offices, as well. Learn more about their services.
