Nevada County Superintendent of Schools Office is excited to invite Nevada County students to share their learning and compete in our STEAM 2022 countywide showcase and competition.
This year, students are invited to compete in three competitions, the Scientific Inquiry Competition, STEAM Arts Showcase, and TechTest Jr. Math Competition.
The purpose of the Nevada County STEAM Expo is…
- To stimulate an active interest in science, technology, engineering, art, and math by engaging in original investigations, experiences, and demonstrations.
- To foster school & community cooperation in developing the STEAM potential of Nevada County students that will lead to future careers in these fields.
- To support the California State Standards.
All Nevada County schools are invited to submit projects and compete through these STEAM challenges:
Scientific Inquiry Competition
Participating projects will be put on display virtually to recognize the outstanding efforts and achievements of students utilizing the scientific inquiry process to research, problem solve and design solutions. Schools are invited to submit their top 4 scientific inquiry projects for each grade level. Projects must be registered by 5 p.m., March 23, 2022.

STEAM Arts Showcase
Students attempt to answer a question, solve a problem, observe an issue or phenomenon through their artwork. Schools are invited to submit their top 4 art projects for each grade level per school site. Projects may be individual, team, and class exhibits. Getting Started

TechTest Jr. Math Competition
Students in grades 5th-8th are invited to compete in this on-site advanced math competition. Teams must be registered for the Tech Test Jr. math competition by February 18, 2022 via the Tech Test Jr. Team Registration Form. Teachers are requested to register the top 2 student competitors and 1 alternate by grade level per school site.

Winners of all STEAM showcase competitions will be posted at 1 p.m. on Friday, March 25, 2022 via NevCoExpo.org. At that time, all participants, students, and schools will also be able to view the virtual showcase, winner results, and submitted projects at NevCoExpo.org.
