Late Friday afternoon, Nevada County’s Eric Rood Administrative Center was a hive of unusual activity. County departments underwent transformations into different realms – Rainbows and Unicorns, the Goblin King’s Castle, Oz, Never Neverland, Teribithia and Star Warz to name a few (slightly altered from the originals.)

County elves, ahem staffers, were busy setting up, with huge grins on their faces. “It’s been so long since we celebrated Halloween at the Rood, we’re so looking forward to it,” said a staffer while hanging a banner in the lobby.

On Halloween, trick-or-treaters of all ages are welcome at the Rood Center from 3:00 to 5:00 pm for a fun, family-friendly event.

A scavenger hunt with prizes awaits ghosts, ghoulies and other creatures!

Parents, bring your kids, park at the Rood Center, then take the free Nevada County Connects shuttle to downtown Nevada City, where merchants will open their doors to trick-or-treaters. Shuttles will run between the Eric Rood Center and City Hall every 15 minutes until 7:00 pm. No parking hassles and plenty of room to haul the loot!

East Broad Street will be closed to traffic at the Y (East Broad and Cottage Street) from 3:00 pm into the evening.

Happy Halloween!
