NORTH SAN JUAN, Calif. March 6, 2020 – The San Juan Ridge Community Library is proud to announce several new developments! The first is the creation of the RIDGE SEED LIBRARY.
We have repurposed a file cabinet and dedicated some supplies to this wonderful resource. Special thanks to Ruby Turple of Honey Circle Farms and all the farmers who showed up for our kick off in February. As we move forward and develop our collection, we are proud to host our first SEED SWAP on MARCH 14th from 12-3pm at the library and on the grounds of Oak Tree Park. We encourage gardeners of all levels to attend and bring their seeds, but want to stress you don’t need seeds to come! We are happy to house this project and are excited to see the two drawers (Vegetables and Flowers) fill to the brim!
What: Seed Swap
Where: SJR Library/Oak Tree Park

The second development is the creation of a space called THE ANNEX. This project has been in the works for a while and we are thrilled that is it finally moving forward and we can share our great news! Behind the library sits an old school district modular office building that has been in disrepair since the Park and Rec district took owner ship of the property about 9 years ago. The SJR Community Library has partnered with the Nevada County Friends of the Library and Oak Tree Park and Recreation District to remodel the 500 sq ft building into a usable community space that the library can run events, programs, classes and more! The current building will be completely remodeled with an open floor plan, movable furniture, wifi, and lovely light that will face the Oak Tree Park’s picturesque pond and back area. We will be having a demo work party as well as gathering supplies and contractors for the rebuild. Projected to be completed by late summer/early fall.

While the building is being built, programs must continue! We are launching the first annual FUN-raiser at the Shady Creek Event Center on April 4th, 2020 from 6-11 pm. We are pleased to have booked local favorites, Achilles Wheel Trio for this dance party featuring treats and tapas included in your very affordable $20 ticket.
