March 2, 2020 – Nevada County Environmental Health Department is excited to host an Educational Workshop Series in 2020.  The Workshops are designed to provide guidance to all local food facility operators and to members of the public that are interested in learning more about the function of the County’s Environmental Health Department. Our goal is to introduce Environmental Health to the community and create a long-lasting community partnership. 

Our Workshop Series kicks off on March 19, 2020 with “Retail Food Facility Operations in Nevada County – Q & A” at 5:00 p.m. at the Eric Rood Administrative Center and will be held in the Board of Supervisors Chambers.  The Workshop will have some light snacks and coffee available from 4:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. in the lobby of the Rood Center (food and beverages are restricted from the Board Chambers).  

The March 19th workshop will feature an overview of the EH Department and our role in industry.  In addition, will cover some emerging topics like PSPS Events and how a local retail food establishment can prepare for future events.  The goal of the 2020 Workshop Series to create a networking connection with our Industry Partners to lead the way to a stronger unity of the EH Team with our Community Industry Partners and Public. 

There will be a total of 4 Workshops for our 2020 Workshop Series:

  1. March 19, 2020: “Retail Food Facility Operations in Nevada County – Q & A” <– This workshop has been canceled
  2. June 18, 2020: “Retail Food and Special Events – What are the requirements for Temporary Food Facilities and Q & A”
  3. September 17, 2020: “Laws and Regulations – How do they apply to my Business?”
  4. December 17, 2020: “Special Processes in Retail Food Operations – HACCP, Sous Vide and How to Comply with State Requirements”
