Grass Valley: The Sierra Master Chorale invites singers of all voice parts to audition this January and early February for its upcoming spring cycle. Under the direction of Conductor and SMC Music Director Alison Skinner, the Chorale performs with the InConcert Sierra Orchestra, offering singers the rewarding experience of collaborating with a professional instrumental ensemble.

Auditions are open to experienced singers who enjoy tackling challenging repertoire, working hard together, and sharing the camaraderie that comes from making great music. We value high musical standards and a positive, supportive rehearsal atmosphere.

This spring’s program features a compelling mix of beloved masterworks by Mozart, Vivaldi, and Fauré, alongside a new exciting and stunningly beautiful contemporary work: Elaine Hagenberg’s “Illuminare.” Composed for chorus and orchestra, this breathtaking five-movement work has garnered international acclaim and exemplifies Hagenberg’s “inspiring and uplifting… soaring and cinematic” compositional voice (Chicago Tribune).

“As a devoted choral singer for many years, I’ve found a new musical home in the Sierra Master Chorale. The group is welcoming and committed to creating excellence, and the unique opportunity to co-create with a professional orchestra elevates the music and experience profoundly,” said SMC soprano Chris Bennett.
