Grass Valley, CA – Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital Foundation (SNMHF) proudly celebrates its 40th anniversary this year, marking four decades of dedicated service to the health and well-being of our community. Incorporated in 1984 by a group of visionary volunteers—including Gay Pryor, Curtis Grimes, John Kneepkens, Bill Briggs, and others —the Foundation was established with the mission of soliciting, receiving, and managing gifts of money and property to benefit Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital.

In its early days, the Foundation operated out of Gay Pryor’s barn until receiving its official 501(c)(3) status from the IRS. This humble beginning set the stage for what would become a thriving, independent nonprofit organization committed to enhancing healthcare in our area.
Over the past 40 years, community support through the Foundation has made a lasting impact on nearly every aspect of Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital. Major projects funded by donations include the construction of the Outpatient Center, the development and expansion of the Cancer Center, the creation of the Diagnostic Imaging Center, and the expansion of the Emergency Department. These efforts have ensured that our community has access to vital healthcare services and programs.
As we celebrate this milestone, we remain deeply grateful to our donors, volunteers, and supporters whose generosity has expanded access to high-quality healthcare for all. The SNMH Foundation looks forward to continuing its mission to support Sierra Nevada Memori al Hospital and provide our community with exceptional care for generations to come.
