Nevada City, Calif. – The National Weather Service predicts COLD, WET weather the night of Wednesday, March 12th, 2025. Considering the weather prediction, Sierra Roots is activating the Emergency Weather Shelter Protocol for Wednesday, March 12th through the morning of Thursday, March 13th. There is a high chance of the shelter remaining open an additional night on Thursday, March 13th if temperatures continue to dip. Should this take place, Sierra Roots will notify stakeholders via email.
The shelter will open at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday in Nevada City at the Veterans Hall (lower level), 415 North Pine Street in Nevada City and will accept guests until 8:00 p.m. This is a collaborative effort to temporarily shelter one of our most vulnerable populations during extreme weather events and connects unhoused residents to additional services.
