Sierra Roots will open the Sierra Roots Emergency Weather Shelter on Saturday, December 27, 2025 and Sunday, December 28, 2025, in response to forecasted conditions at or below 32 degrees.
The shelter provides a warm, safe indoor space for community members who need protection from dangerous overnight weather. Participants can expect a warm place to sleep indoors with blankets, hot dinner and breakfast, and basic supplies to support health and safety during extreme cold.
Sierra Roots extends a sincere thank you to two local restaurants for supporting our neighbors during this activation. Dinner on Saturday will be donated by Miner Moe’s and Comedor, helping ensure participants receive a hot meal when it matters most.
Where: Nevada City Veterans Hall
415 N. Pine Street, Nevada City, CA (Enter through rear door, in parking lot)
When: Saturday, December 27, 2025 and Sunday, December 28, 2025
Doors Open between: 4:30 – 8pm, Dinner served at 5:30pm
Pets are welcome. Pets must remain with their owner, stay on leash at all times.
