Nevada County, June 15, 2018 – Sterling P. Holloway III, Inc., a small family-owned and operated demolition company out of Auburn, had their equipment vandalized on Wolf Mountain.
Besides spraying-painting graffiti, the unknown suspects cut hydraulic lines, damaged the insides and operator cabins of the heavy equipment, rendering them inoperable.
The vandalism occurred over Memorial Day weekend and a report has been filed with the Nevada County Sheriff’s Office.
The contract called for the demolition and removal of an old, abandoned telecom vault. The company has hired security, both to protect their equipment and for public safety. Their hope is to prevent any more damage to the area.
The company would like to offer a $1000 cash reward for any information that leads to an arrest. The phone number to call for tips is 530-265-1471.
Julie White, who works for Sterling Holloway, said the loss of time and the cost to repair the equipment is a blow to the company. She added, “we hope someone will come forward with solid information.”
