GRASS VALLEY, Calif. March 25, 2024 – Soroptimist International of the Sierra Foothills (SISF) held an awards breakfast at Tofanelli’s on Thursday, March 21st to honor mini-grant recipients:

- KARE Krisis Nursery – childcare for supervised visits;

Over twenty-six non-profit 501(c)3 agencies completed a lengthy application which was rated by the members of the SISF Service committee using, in part, a weighted rubric to allow for a fair and unbiased selection process.
Two key scoring categories included: whether their agency and specific project is consistent with the SISF mission/vision to promote the betterment of the lives of women and children in Nevada County. The other categories include: the number of women and children to be impacted by the funding, whether the agency has been funded in prior years, and how the agency will report on the progress of the project. There were many highly qualified applicants, making the selection very difficult. Those that were not selected are encouraged to apply next year.
SISF raises money to provide grants and scholarships to non-profits and individuals by holding its annual Garden Tour every spring. This year, it will be held on May 18th and 19th, rain or shine.
Six beautiful gardens will be on the tour. Local artists have been busy creating new and exciting garden art for the Garden Shop at Garden #3, where there will also be refreshments and porta-potties. Tickets are on sale now at: www.sierrasoroptimist.org
