Nevada City, CA — The South Yuba River Citizens League (SYRCL) invites community members of all ages to participate in the 28th Annual Yuba River Cleanup on Saturday, September 20, 2025, from 9:00-12:00. This beloved event brings together hundreds of volunteers to protect and restore the Yuba River and its watershed by removing trash, recycling, and waste from riverbanks, creeks, and trails across Nevada County.
Following the Cleanup, volunteers are invited to celebrate their hard work and dedication at SYRCL’s Volunteer Appreciation Party — now at a NEW LOCATION, Condon Park in Grass Valley, from 12:00-3:00. The party will feature lunch, live music, and community fun.
Important Deadlines
To make sure we have enough food for everyone, volunteers who wish to enjoy a complimentary lunch from Bill’s Chuckwagon at the Appreciation Party must register by Saturday, September 13. Early sign-ups also help SYRCL organize crews and supplies for the Cleanup.
Volunteer registration is now open at: yubariver.org.

Why the Cleanup Matters
Each year, the Yuba River Cleanup removes thousands of pounds of trash and recyclables from local rivers, streams, and trails. This effort not only protects water quality and wildlife but also brings together families, schools, businesses, and community organizations in a shared act of stewardship.
“Volunteering for the Cleanup is one of the most direct and meaningful ways to protect the Yuba,” said Daniel Elkin, SYRCL’s Communications and Engagement Director. “By joining us, you’ll help keep our river healthy and beautiful for generations to come and we invite you to celebrate that commitment with friends and neighbors at Condon Park.”
