Nevada County, Calif. February 24, 2026 – Today, Sue Hoek officially announced her campaign for re-election to the District IV seat on the Nevada County Board of Supervisors, reaffirming her commitment to strong public safety, responsible governance, and rural community values. 

“Serving the residents of District IV has been one of the greatest honors of my life,” Hoek said. “Together, we have strengthened wildfire preparedness, expanded broadband access, supported local businesses, and protected the rural character that makes our communities special. I am running for re-election to continue delivering practical solutions and thoughtful leadership for Nevada County families.” 

Since taking office, Hoek has focused on wildfire mitigation and emergency preparedness, infrastructure improvements, fiscal responsibility, and ensuring rural voices are heard in county decision-making. She has worked collaboratively with local leaders, first responders, and community organizations to address critical issues affecting Lake Wildwood, Penn Valley, Rough and Ready, North San Juan, and surrounding areas. 

Supervisor Hoek is encouraging community members to get involved, attend upcoming events, and share their feedback on local issues. 

 Hoek will continue to prioritize: 

  • Enhancing wildfire prevention and public safety efforts 
  • Improving roads and critical infrastructure 
  • Advocating for protection of Landline Phone Service 
  • Expanding broadband and technology access 
  • Supporting small businesses and economic vitality 
  • Maintaining responsible, transparent county budgeting 

“I believe in listening first, leading with integrity, and making decisions that reflect the needs of our community,” Hoek added. “There is more work to be done, and I am ready to continue serving.”
