TAHOE CITY, Calif. July 21, 2020 – Although COVID-19 canceled the in person 2020 Concerts at Commons Beach music series in Tahoe City this summer, the Tahoe City Downtown Association (TCDA) has partnered with 101.5 KTKE Truckee Tahoe Radio to bring a weekly live and streaming version of the series to fans for five Sundays this August from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Featuring a few of the best concerts recorded from previous years, music fans will be able to reminisce and relive memories from their favorite concerts from the comfort and safety of their home, boat, driveway or backyard.
“Every summer for the past 15 years, the TCDA and the Tahoe City Public Utilities District have produced Lake Tahoe’s favorite live music event, Concerts at Commons Beach. While we are unable to meet in person this summer, we still want to bring rocking music and good cheer to our community,” said Kylee Bigelow, TCDA executive director. “To keep our community dancing, we have partnered with 101.5 KTKE and a few of our favorite performers to share some of the best moments and sweetest sounds from our summer shows.”
The live radio and online streaming 2020 musical lineup will feature:
August 2: Lebo and FriendsDan Lebowitz (Lebo) is best known as a founding member of ALO, a California rock band he has been playing guitar and singing with since he was 13 years old. In his own group, Lebo brings an all-star lineup of Bay Area aces to deliver an intoxicating blend of melodic rock, California funk and soul. This show will feature their live performance at Commons Beach from summer 2017.
August 9: Turkuaz Turkuaz is a funk army of multi-instrumentals and singers that is part freight train and part tyrannosaurus rex, who—even on an off night—can blow away a room on the basis of sheer physics alone. This performance will be their live show at Commons Beach from summer 2014.
August 16: Poor Man’s Whiskey Poor Man’s Whiskey is Northern California’s outlaw music, bringing a reputation for high energy live shows and an incomparable bluegrass, southern rock, and old school jam to stages and festivals worldwide. This “High-Octane Hootenanny” from summer 2019 will certainly delight those interested in a foot-stompin good time.
August 23: Diggin’ Dirt Diggin’ Dirt began planting its roots back in 2011 in the town of Arcata, CA in Humboldt County. This show was played at Commons Beach in summer 2019. Diggin’ Dirt is influenced by funk heavy hitters such as James Brown, Funkadelic, Bootsy Collins and Sly and the Family Stone as well as reggae bands like Steel Pulse and modern funk like Orgone.
August 30: “Best of Mash-up” featuring Joy & Madness, Dead Winter Carpenters and more! For the final concert of the summer series, a “best of” mash-up will blend the performances of fan favorites including the funk and soul sounds of Joy & Madness, the Americana sounds of North Lake Tahoe’s Dead Winter Carpenters, and other popular Concerts at Commons Beach musicians for a boot stompin’, feel good finale.
