Nevada County, CA – Sierra Harvest’s Farm Institute is accepting registrations for Farm Biz 2026, a six-week business planning course designed for beginning farmers and ranchers. The course will be held on Thursdays via Zoom from January 29 through March 5, 3:00–5:30 PM, and is ideal for those launching a new farm enterprise or strengthening an existing operation.

Farm Biz provides instruction in key areas of farm business development, including business structure, budgeting and cash flow planning, labor laws, funding opportunities, customer cultivation, insurance and risk management, and product selection and analysis. Hosted on the dynamic Farmer Campus platform, participants in this course are able to interact and connect with each other and build business relationships with classmates and teachers.
Each weekly module of the course features one presenter who is a regional expert in their field. Guest presenters this year will include regional farmers from FogDog Farm, Sweet Roots Farm, Feeding Crane Farm, and Starbright Acres Family Farm. Classes also include presentations from buyers, like BriarPatch Food Co-op, and agricultural support organizations like Nevada County Resource Conservation District and California FarmLink.
