The Center for the Arts’ Main Stage Playmakers proudly present Annie, The Musical! December 5–7, 2025, in the Marisa Funk Theater. Directed by David Endacott-Hicks and co-directed by Kristen DeKowzan, this full-scale youth production features talented young performers from across Nevada County.
The Main Stage Playmakers aims to provide a theater experience for children ages 7-15, and produces two plays throughout the year. Athena Aronow, Arts Education Program Manager, leads CREATE (Center Resource for Education, Arts, Theater, and Exploration) at The Center and says she is thrilled to see yet another amazing performance from Nevada County’s talented youth community.
CREATE at The Center has expanded, year after year, to provide arts education opportunities such as student matinees, a children’s theater program, year-round arts classes, summer camps and two annual Family Fun Days- free events for the community- aimed at engaging children in the arts!
David Endacott-Hicks, is the Artistic Director and the President of the Board for Lyric Rose Theatre Company. As Artistic Director, David has been able to give performing arts opportunities to hundreds of children throughout Nevada County and beyond through enrichment and outreach. Krissi DeKowzan has been performing since the age of five and earlier this year, she co-directed Frozen Jr. alongside David.
Annie The Musical! is set in 1930s New York and follows a spirited orphan whose optimism and determination inspire everyone she meets. With beloved songs like “Tomorrow” and “It’s the Hard Knock Life,” this timeless Broadway favorite captures the power of hope and community, perfect for the holiday season.
