NEVADA COUNTY, Calif. February 27, 2024 – Nevada County Clerk-Recorder/Registrar of Voters Natalie Adona explains how ballots received in their office are being prepared for tabulation at the close of polls on election day. From signature verification, to opening ballots and sorting them, trained election workers are ensuring the process is conducted with fairness and integrity.
The first two Vote Centers open now are the Rood Center in Nevada City and Truckee Town Hall with hours scheduled 8 a.m.-5 p.m. daily until Election Day, when they expand to 7 a.m.-8 p.m. At the centers, voters can vote in person, drop off a ballot, get a replacement ballot, use accessible voting machines, get assistance in multiple languages, and register to vote or update registration. Hours are 8 a.m.-5 p.m. daily until March 5 when they expand to 7 a.m.-8 p.m.
Voters can also return their ballots in the mail or in drop boxes around the county. As of Feb. 26th, county voters have returned 9,879 ballots – 13.1 percent of the countyโs approximately 75,000 ballots issued to registered voters.
