Yuba River South Ranger District on the Tahoe National Forest is looking to under burning a couple of Bear Trap units Thursday and Friday, with resources holding and mopping up Saturday and Sunday. Resource staffing overnight is available if needed. The Bear Trap units are part of the Western Nevada County Community Defense Project and located off Tyler Foote and Cruzon Grade on the San Juan Ridge. Smoke will be visible in North San Juan, Nevada City and the Town of Washington.

They are hoping to burn 3 units D, E, F for 170 acres total. Today they’ll start with unit D, and expect test light at 10-10:30. Unit D is 67 acres and they have the possibility of cutting it in half if they want to keep it slow.

At scene will be two engines from the district, and personnel from hotshots, and patrol. Firestorm is sending a module to staff through the weekend, and some personnel from Firesafe Council will be there to help.
