Truckee, CA- The Town of Truckee is pleased to announce the selection of Paul Bancroft as the Town’s new Director of Neighborhood Services and Sustainability following a competitive recruitment process that began in December 2025. Bancroft is expected to begin his role with the Town in April 2026.
The Director of Neighborhood Services and Sustainability reports directly to the Town Manager and serves on the Town’s executive leadership team. The department oversees several key community programs including housing, solid waste, sustainability initiatives, short-term rentals, and the Town’s Inclusion, Diversity, Equity & Accessibility (IDEA) program.
“We are thrilled to welcome Paul as our new Director of Neighborhood Services and Sustainability,” said Town Manager Jen Callaway. “Paul grew up in Lake Tahoe and continues to call this regional community home, giving him a deep understanding of the values that make our town special. After 18 years of leadership in the nonprofit sector, Paul brings a wealth of experience, creativity, and compassion to this role. He is the perfect person to help bridge community priorities with the work of the Neighborhood Services and Sustainability Department. We’re excited to welcome Paul to the Town leadership team and as our newest community builder.”
Bancroft was born in Truckee and has spent nearly two decades serving the Truckee-Tahoe region. He has worked at Sierra Community House for 18 years, including 11 years as Executive Director. One of his most notable accomplishments was co-leading the creation of Sierra Community House in 2018–2019, merging four longstanding social service organizations into a single comprehensive nonprofit that now serves thousands of community members each year.
In addition to his nonprofit leadership, Bancroft has served as the Area 2 Trustee for Sierra College since 2017 and was recognized with the 2024 Outstanding Trustee Award from the Placer County School Boards Association. He also serves on several regional committees and boards, including the Truckee Tahoe Homeless Action Committee, Community Organizations Active in Disaster (COAD), the Tahoe Housing Hub / Housing Trust Tahoe Board of Directors, and the La Alianza Statewide Advisory Committee.
“I am excited to work with the incredible team at the Town to continue and expand upon the critical programs within the department,” said Bancroft. “My entire career has been committed to community service and I am honored to continue that work with the Town of Truckee. I believe the goal of the Town is to provide the best services possible to everyone who calls this amazing place home, and I am grateful for the opportunity to contribute to that effort.”
Bancroft lives in Truckee with his family and enjoys spending time outdoors biking, Nordic skiing, fly fishing, and exploring the region’s rivers and lakes.
