(Grass Valley, CA) – Two 17-year-old juveniles have been arrested and taken into custody by the Nevada County Sheriff’s Office (NCSO) in connection with an online threat involving a firearm. The first juvenile, a male and student of Nevada Union High School (NUHS), was arrested for alleged criminal threats and conspiracy to commit crime. The second juvenile, a female who does not attend NUHS, was also arrested for alleged conspiracy to commit crime.

This incident unfolded on the morning of Oct. 1 when an NCSO School Resource Officer (SRO) was alerted to a threat of violence by the school administration, as reported by a concerned parent. NCSO deputies and detectives immediately began investigating the matter in partnership with school officials, and using a variety of tools, identified and tracked down two suspects of interest, later identified as the two 17-year-old juveniles.

All students and faculty remained safe on campus and Sheriff’s Office staff remain on campus at the time of this release. There is no known further threat at this time.

The Sheriff’s Office would like to thank NUHS for their prompt notification and assistance in this matter.
