Roads

  • Banner Quaker Hill Road is CLOSED due to hazardous conditions.
  • Valley View Road across from Brentwood Court is CLOSEDย due to a tree down in powerlines across the road.
  • Gaston Drive at Lake Lane is CLOSEDย due to a tree down in powerlines across the road.ย 
  • Near 13306 Red Dog Road is CLOSEDย due to a tree down.ย 
  • Near 15499 Cascade Loop is CLOSEDย due to a down tree.ย 

There are reports of multiple trees down in the Pasquale and upper Banner areas. Crews are enroute to assess hazards. Updates will continue to be posted at NevadaCountyCA.gov/RoadClosures (Road Conditions and Closures | Nevada County, CA)

During regular work hours, report downed trees or issues on County-maintained roadways to Nevada County Public Works at 530-265-1411. Report down power lines, urgent after-hour or weekend incidents to 9-1-1.

Warming Shelter

The Commons Resource Center remains OPEN for anyone seeking daytime respite, even as most County facilities are closed due to the storm.

Sierra Roots, in partnership with Nevada County, will open the Emergency Weather Shelter today and Friday, Feb. 19 and 20. Location: Nevada City Vets Hall, 415 N Pine Street.

General Reminders & Preparedness

  • Check in on neighbors:ย Please take a moment to check in on neighbors, especially seniors or anyone with limited mobility. With outages increasing today, a quick call or visit could make a big difference.
  • Generators:ย If using generators during outages, keep them outside and away from windows to prevent carbon monoxide poisoning.
  • Roof/snow load safety:ย With heavy snowfall across Nevada County, the Building Department urges residents and businesses to monitor roofs for structural stress, especially flat, low-slope, or older buildings, and to keep vents clear to prevent carbon monoxide hazards. Property owners should exercise caution when removing snow and contact licensed contractors if assistance is needed.
  • Food safety: With extended power outages in Nevada County, the Department of Environmental Health reminds residents to keep refrigerators and freezers closed to protect perishable food, discard any items above 40ยฐF or showing signs of spoilage. All in-person services will remain closed until at least 8:00 AM tomorrow morning. Patients will be notified directly by text and phone message of any changes to their appointments.

The distribution was scheduled from 3:30 to 5:30 pm. For the safety of our clients, volunteers, and staff, we will not be out at the distribution site today. The decision was made out of an abundance of caution as travel conditions may be hazardous.

Twin Cities Church women evening bible study is cancelled for tomorrow evening, Thursday 2/19/26.

Chan Family Optometry (360 Sierra College Dr, Grass Valley) will be closed tomorrow, February 19, 2026, for the safety of our patients and staff. We plan to resume normal business hours this Friday.

Sierra Roots will continue providing the Emergency Weather Shelter on Thursday, February 19 and Friday, February 20, 2026, in response to forecasted conditions at or below 32 degrees. Due to inclement weather and advisements against travel on February 19th, 2026, the Nevada County Superior Court plans for a delayed open at 10am, with calendars to begin at 10:30am in Truckee and Nevada City. The Melo Plant Shop at 417 Broad Street in downtown Nevada City will be closed tomorrow again due to weather.
