July 5, 2019 – Temperatures warm slightly today and Saturday, then cool for the start of next week.

Breezy wind at times through the Delta and over the Sierra crest.

Discussion

Clear skies cover the region early this morning. Current temperatures are a little milder compared to 24 hours ago and range from the mid 40s in the mountain valleys to the mid 60s to mid 70s across the Central Valley (except mid to upper 50s in the Delta).

Daytime highs will continue to warm slightly today and Saturday as the upper level trough weakens. This warm up should be brief as models indicate another another closed low moving into the PacNW which will reinforce the trough along the coast by early next week resulting in another cool down for interior NorCal.

Extended Discussion (Tuesday through Friday)

By Tuesday, upper ridging over the west coast begins to move east as an upper trough approaches the PacNW. Increasing cloud cover, below average temperatures, and dry conditions will be seen Tuesday as precipitation with this system will remain just north of the area. This upper low remains off the northwestern US coast through the week with high temperatures over NorCal steadily increasing through Friday. Have kept temperatures in the mid to upper 90s Friday, although triple digit temperatures may be possible.
