January 27, 2021 – Overnight, a winter storm brought gusty winds, rain and mostly snow to our area. As of this morning 30 power outages are affecting 4,466 PG&E customers, with extended repair times. Trees and branches in roadways kept first responders and Public Works crews busy – all while dealing with near whiteout conditions at times.

47 mph at Lake Wildwood
45 mph at White Cloud
43 mph at McCourtney in Grass Valley
36 mph at the Nevada County Airport
34 mph on Pleasant Valley Road
33 mph in Nevada City
31 mph at Scotts Flat

More rain and snow are on the way later this evening and overnight, according to the National Weather Service.

Road conditions are still treacherous, CHP Gold Run advises “Chains are required on I-80 this morning at Colfax to State Line. Great day to avoid travel over the summit!” Here is the Caltrans update:
