Wolf Mountain, CA – When disaster strikes and conventional communications fail, amateur radio operators step up. Wolf Mountain Radio will join thousands of amateur radio operators across North America for Field Day, a continent-wide emergency communications exercise.
This annual event is designed to showcase the science, skill, and community service of amateur radio in a simulated emergency environment.
Wolf Mountain Radio will operate under field conditions, using off-grid power sources and temporary antennas to communicate with thousands of other ham radio operators across North America.
Why It Matters:
Amateur radio, often called “ham radio” has played a crucial role in emergency responses to wildfires, earthquakes, storms and floods. During these crises, licensed operators have provided communications when commercial systems were overloaded or destroyed.

About Field Day:
Held annually since 1933, Field Day is the most popular on-air event in ham radio. Over 35,000 radio amateurs across North America set up temporary radio stations to practice emergency communication and connect with each other in a massive display of technical skill and community spirit.
Wolf Mountain Radio is proud to serve its community by maintaining a state of readiness and raising public awareness through exercises like Field Day.
