Join Wonder Docent and Studio Caliari on Friday, August 29th at 6pm for an artist talk and closing reception for Everything Is Apocalyptical: A Vessels Show. Ceramicist Marina Caliari will discuss her work, her creative influences, and the inspiration behind the 25 vessels currently on display at Wonder Docent.
This is a great opportunity to connect with the artist, learn about the artistic process, and ask your burning questions.
The body of work explores themes of loneliness, cultural alienation, and the search for joy and connection in a chaotic world. Caliari was born and raised in Vitória Brazil and lived and worked in Spain before moving to the U.S. in 2017 and settling in Nevada City in 2022.
“Art was always my main language, the one that never needed translation or hesitation,” says Caliari, who left her home country at age 25.
Inspired by nature, childhood memories, conversations, and current global politics, the vessels incorporate humor to surprise and connect with their audience.
