The American Association of University Women (AAUW) Nevada County Branch has named Carolyn Feuille the 2024 Edi Silverman Community Service Award recipient. Since 2003, the annual Edi Silverman Community Service Award has recognized a branch member who has made outstanding contributions to the community as well as the branch.

Feuille has been active in the Rotary Club of Nevada City since December 2013, serving as International Services Chair and as 2022-2023 Club Co-Vice President. During her time with the Club, she has hosted people from Kazakhstan as well as visited the country as part of the Open World international leadership program (directed by the U.S. Congress). She also has directed and volunteered in Rotaryโs educational and health care projects for youth in the area of Los Barriles, Baja Sur, Mexico. Additionally, she is the co-founder of the Clubโs Menstrual Hygiene Programโs Sewing Circle that sews menstrual hygiene kits for marginalized women in Chiapas, Mexico, and Zacualpa, Guatemala.
A member of Emmanuel Episcopal Church, Feuille prepares floral arrangements for services, acts as a lector at services, and participates in a program at Emmanuel to encourage inter-racial connection and diversity in our community. Several years ago, she updated the artwork in the churchโs parish hall, using her expertise in the arts in the process. Her interest in the art of iconography led to curating a public art show of painted religious icons in January 2019.
Feuille has served in multiple AAUW Nevada County Branch offices over the past decade, including Hospitality, Program Co-Vice President, and Public Policy Chair. Of special impact to the community, she initiated a Community Public Awareness Forum in collaboration with Community Beyond Violence. The โDomestic & Sexual Violence: How it Touches Us Allโ forum aimed at bringing together local experts representing law enforcement, behavioral health, forensic medicine, the legal system, and education in an important and illuminating discussion enhanced further by the voices of survivors sharing their traumatic experiences.
