Nevada City, CA – The “Pink Patch Project” is here! For the entire month of October, seven local law enforcement and fire agencies are wearing pink patches in recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, in addition to selling agency-specific pink patches, 2024 community-designed breast cancer challenge coins, and specialty merchandise to support local breast cancer research and services at Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital Foundation and Tahoe Forest Health System Foundation. Additionally, one lucky person will take home a beautiful, handmade wooden flag, courtesy of Correctional Officer Michael Schnitzius of the Nevada County Sheriff’s Office, that can be customized with a pink ribbon if desired, by participating in a Pink Patch charity raffle (suggested donation of $5).
This year’s seven collaborating agencies are comprised of the Nevada County Sheriff’s Office, Nevada County Consolidated Fire District, Nevada County Probation, Grass Valley Police Department, Grass Valley Fire Department, Nevada City Police Department, and Truckee Police Department. Collectively, the agencies have come together to offer several Pink Patch events throughout the month, giving community members an opportunity to meet and mingle with local law enforcement and fire while supporting a good cause.
